Using the pipe icon![](https://1025048312-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-M8fLhS0bmfBRyq0HdUm%2Fuploads%2FsfUjy8NQ9EdtQcZCUwZt%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=0d63a022-6980-4938-9a83-3932fb3bbc2a)you can pipe into your prompt any of your respondent answers. ngSurvey will then replace the pipe dynamically for each respondent while sending the prompt to your AI provider for evaluation. The output of the prompt will be stored as the smart column value. {% hint style="info" %} We recommend to use your pipe value between triple back ticks in your prompt to let your AI provider distinguish it from your prompt request. {% endhint %} Here a prompt that will calculate the total between 2 entries and store it within the smart column.
