# Connections vault

The connection vault allows you to setup a connection string to connect to your database that you can use globally for SQL based [security items](https://docs.ngsurvey.com/form-management/security/security-items/sql-security), panels, [answers](https://docs.ngsurvey.com/form-management/form-designer/answers/answer-types/creating-new-type/lists/sql-server-lists) or [tasks](https://docs.ngsurvey.com/form-management/tasks/task-items/sql-query-task).

Using a global connection string you can make the connection string available to all users without disclosing the actual connection string details as the users will only see the connection name.
